OPAL - Extension of Local Helpline Service

OPAL Helpline Extended To Assist With Shopping & Prescriptions During COVID-19 Emergency

As of Tuesday 31st March the OPAL helpline is now extended so referrals can be made to a new shopping service coordinated by OPAL in partnership with EDVA. This voluntary shopping scheme will help those most vulnerable in the community, particularly those self-isolating to get vital deliveries of food and prescribed medication.

The OPAL Helpline number is 0141 438 2347 and the extended hours the line will be opened is: 9am to 5pm seven days per week.

OPAL will pass the details of callers requiring assistance with shopping and prescriptions to EDVA who will allocate volunteers to respond through local administrators located throughout the communities of East Dunbartonshire.

These volunteers will strive to respond as quickly as possible to collect the shopping and prescriptions, deliver them and drop them off to the people requiring assistance.

There has been a remarkable community response to the COVID 19 emergency and this includes volunteers. EDVA has a bank of volunteers who are working with local groups throughout East Dunbartonshire and in partnership with OPAL to assist vulnerable people in the local area.
